Austin, Texas
After a most successful gaming weekend in Biloxi, the trek has moved further west to Austin. I have a few friends to visit here in Texas. Starting first with a stay here at Amy & Eric's place. Gordo and Gus pictured above are also in residence, though Gordo has yet to accept my presence.
For the poker boyz, a final trip report. That's me in my gaming hoodie about to take out the third place player on the way to a two-way chop of the PLO event.
Road Trip to date: 5,925 miles

Kittens!
Look away if you are a dog person. My brother and sister-in-law adopted the frantic KC just a few weeks ago. That's her with the blue ball.
This past week, we went to the Cat Protection Society in Eustis, Florida to get her a playmate. Now they have a two kitten household, KC and the new kitten on the block currently referred to as "the little one" or "gray kitty" or "Ouch! Don't bite!".
"the little gray one"
Yes, there were two cats in the frame when I took the picture.

As Requested
Prior to hitting the road, several friends and regular blog readers requested that I include more photos from this trip. Including but not limited to the actual humans and near-humans I encounter along the way.
Today I begin to fulfill those requests. Above you will observe Midnight and I discussing keyboard access.
These humanoids are Gary & Cyndi Blevins, my friends who reside in Lake Shastina, California where I have spent the first two weeks of my journey in fire, glacial flaking and now heavenly rain. Here in California we never disparage precipitation.
Finally, from the wilds of Northern California the fourth member of the household, the latest creature to emerge from the wilds to adopt the Blevins -- meet Socks, the terror of local birds, bats and lizards.
The road trip heads East tomorrow with a small change in route, which will be explained at a future date.

Mark Laita
Mark Laita makes his living as a "commercial photographer" taking photographs of products for print ads. But he also turns his crisp and colorful eye to objects other than an iPhone or a Crown Royal bottle.
He clearly likes food.
Laita has a new book out called Serpentine, which I recommend with fascination and a cold chill down my spine.
See a lot more photographs on his website.
