Funeral for a Friend

[Content Disclosure: Life, Death, Synchronicity]

She said, "There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.'
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might just as well've been closed

I was talking to a friend the other day and he mentioned plans for his funeral. After a period of empathy, I pointed out that telling me was not going to assure his minimalist last wishes were going to be followed. He either had to tell his executor, put it in writing or put me in his will to carry out that portion of his requests/bequests. He asked about my own "after" plans and while we have similar desires (a quick flash bake and the nearby friends get the kitchen stuff); he was surprised that I also had some olde plans that included music for any eventual gathering of friends.

Later that same evening, I was having a completely different conversation with another bestiest friend and somehow we drifted to that same fatal/final topic. We discovered we had the same primary request for music, which I offer you the opportunity to listen, ponder and enjoy.

I must add that I wouldn't be adverse to a second verse for after the florid speeches.

- Nice choice on the tune (I like some of the other song postings by that person, always nice to hear San Francisco). Someone we know saw that band (your link) as their first concert.

Not sure what I'd want (your choice would certainly be a contender)... hmm... Coming Home by Mel Torme (the quicker version)... April Come She Will (sung by Garfunkel, not a Simon version) would be a candidate. Other choices, Tangerine or Ten Years Gone by Zeppelin.

Also... Just a Little by Beau Brummels. -Although the tempo is a bit quick.

Perhaps my brother-in-law could do an acoustic version of April Come She Will.

I always thought I'd go the cremation route - unitl I buried my cat Stella. I wrapped her in a piece of Alpaca fur she liked to lie on. It looked so cozy. I now want to be wrapped in Alpaca when I die. Expensive and impractical - but very very warm. (And yes, I do realize I will be deader than a doornail and warmth will be immaterial)
